Dewar's Lemon Wedge cocktail. (Photo courtesy of Dewar's)

There’s a particular cocktail associated with golf. It’s called the Transfusion, and involves vodka, ginger ale, grape juice and lime juice. Sweet and pungent, for sure, but honestly — for the 126th U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills, you can do better.

Enter the Lemon Wedge. Simple, quenching, a little swellegant, this classic highball employs Dewar’s 12 year old, a little lemonade and a little club soda. Bing, bam, stir, boom. Simple, yes, but so very apropos considering that the 180 year old whisky maker has created a special bottling of Dewar’s especially for the U.S. Open.

Go check out our story today on U.S. Open specialty events and items (including the Dewar’s 19 year old finished in Wölffer cabernet franc barrels), but meanwhile a bottle of the 12 year old will do just fine for this lovely sipper (which is also being featured during the Championship at a multitude of Hamptons restaurants, including Fauna, Flora, Oaklands, Canoe Place Inn, Tutto Il Giorno, La Goulue Sur Mer, Shoppes, Bobby Van’s, Page, Union Burger Bar and others) — all four you (golf puns! We couldn’t resist).
