You know Paloma, right? That refreshing little Mexican number, so citrusy and sippable with her classic combo of grapefruit and tequila. But you know the Italians — they’ve always got something delicious up their sleeves, too. When it comes to cocktails, Italy has kept a pretty short, tight list of highly curated but iconic drinks: the Americano, the Spritz in all its incarnations, the Bellini, the Negroni.

We like how some bartenders and spirits makers are getting a little international with riffs on drinks from other places ’round the world, like this one on the Paloma. From the makers of. Piedmont’s Holiday Vodka, a wheat-based spirit with a little Alpine influence, is the latest export from that booted land of culinary bounty, and they shared this recipe — which is pretty quenchingly perfect for the dog days of August. The Paméla

Prep Time 1 minute
Serves 1 cocktail

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 oz Holiday Vodka
  • 1 1/2 oz Rinomato or Cappelletti Sfumato Rabarbaro
  • 3 to 4 oz grapefruit soda

Directions

  • Fill a wine goblet or highball glass with ice. Pour in vodka and amaro. Stir.
  • Top with grapefruit soda. Cheers!
