Unless you’ve been living under a golf cart (and, well, maybe even if you have been), the U.S. Open Golf Championship is coming to town. A veritable city center has been built in and around the Shinnecock Hills Golf Club for the 126th golf tournament June 15 to 21to get ready for the 32,000 people, give or take, who will be coming to the event this year to see 156 golfers, all with a 0.4 handicap or less to qualify, compete for the top prize of $4.3 million (hey, that might actually buy you a little house in the Hamptons!) of the total whopping $21.5 million purse — the largest ever on record.
That’s all well and good, but if you’re not planning on sitting in the stands but still want to get in the swing of the spirit, there are a ton of options for U.S. Open-related activities, talks, books, viewing parties, shopping experiences and events all over the Hamptons starting this weekend. What’s on the tee? Glad you asked…
Get the Real-Deal Scoop from PGA champ Raymond Floyd
This Saturday, June 6, head to Southampton Playhouse (43 Hill Street, Southampton) for a very special Q&A with Raymond Floyd, the legendary PGA champion and pro golfer who walloped the competition with 66 wins around the globe — 22 of which were on PGA tours. Forty years ago, it also just happens that he won the U.S. Open right here at Shinnecock Hills, landing him on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Now that’s damned cool! The Southampton Playhouse is hosting this golf icon in a chat moderated by Golf TV anchor David Marr III and following a screening of the docu-short, 1986 — A Vintage Year, encapsulating his Shinnecock win. Get your tickets for the 4 p.m. talk and show here.
Island Hop to Shinnecock — on a Yacht
Staying at the Pridwin Hotel & Cottages on Shelter Island? It’s closer to the golf action than you think, and a pretty fun way to get there. U.S. Open Rendezvous guests can nab a seat on a private yacht via the Pridwin’s partnership with Barton & Gray Mariner’s Club. From June 16 to 21, cruise the local waters with special access to Duryea’s Deck and waterfront dining, specialty on-board cocktails and a bespoke black car ride once docked to the Championship. Grab Your Official U.S. Open Apparel at Peter Millar
The Southampton outpost of this menswear maker is the official outfitter of this year’s U.S. Open, with Shinnecock Hills branded polos, zip-necks, crews, T-shirts, vests and more. Head to the 5 Main Street shop and check out the limited edition line-up.
Watch the Birdies at Agawam Park
No tickets to the tournament? No problem. The Shinecock Hills Golf Club has set up a 17 x 10 foot outdoor screen in Lake Agawam Park to watch all the action live from Thursday, June 18 to Sunday, June 21. Set to run alongside U.S. Open broadcast times (check your local listings or here), you can grab a lawn chair, a picnic basket, and maybe a thermos of Transfusions (golfs ultimate cocktail: vodka, ginger ale, grape juice, fresh lime juice — hey, we didn’t make it up) and have a day of more swings than misses.

Prime the next Palmer at CMEE
The Children’s Museum of the East End (376 Bridgehamton-Sag Harbor Turnpike, Bridgehampton) is transforming their grounds into a Mini Open around their nine-hole miniature golf course, with load of U.S. Open-centric fun to get the kids on par (and, as it’s Father’s Day that weekend, some fun for golf-loving dads, too). Starting Tuesday, June 16 and running through Friday, June 19, there are multiple tee-off challenges, creative course activities, a hidden golf ball hunt and more. Click here for details.
A Brainy Golf Pro and Profiling Spills the Tees at BookHampton
Author of Rory: The Heartache and Triumph of Golf’s Most Human Superstar, Alan Shipnuck, will be on hand at BookHampton (41 Main St., East Hampton) on June 19 and 6 p.m. to discuss his book on Northern Ireland’s golf legend (at just 37 years old) and six-time champion Rory McIlroy. Shipnuck spent 25 years writing for Sports Illustrated, with a particular concentration on the Grand Old Game. He knows a thing or two, in case that wasn’t clear. Speaking of, pick up a coy of Life on the Green from local Hamptons golf legend and radio and TV sports host Ann Liguori while you’re there. If anyone can break down the U.S. Open for you, this host of the podcast “Sports Interview with Ann Liguori” surely can.
Celebrate the U.S. Open’s Return to Southampton with a Special Dram from Dewars and Wölffer
Scotland Meets Sagaponack in this very special blended Scotch release from the good folks at Dewar’s in Scotland — certainly, a land that loves its golf (and its Scotch). Wölffer’s Roman Roth collaborated with Dewar’s master blender Stephanie Macleod, taking this 19 year old whisky beauty and finishing it in cabernet franc barrels from Roth. Pretty cool, right?! Don’t just take our word for it:
“With this 2026 Champions Edition of Dewar’s 19 Year Old, our focus was on harnessing the precision of a 19-year maturation to create a whisky of exceptional depth. By finishing our signature double-aged blend in cabernet franc casks from Long Island’s legendary Wölffer Estate, we’ve introduced a vibrant, red-fruit intensity that blends seamlessly with Dewar’s distinct finishing process,” says Mcleod. “The result is a richly layered expression where floral notes of violets and golden honey give way to a rich medley of syrupy red berries and blackcurrant. The cabernet franc influence adds a layer of dried orange peel and warm cinnamon, culminating in a long, balanced finish with refined toasted oak.”

Walter Hagen + Maxfli Golf Pop-Up in East Hampton
It’s kind of a pop-up in a pop-up. Located in the seasonal Dick’s Sporting Goods pop-up at 34 Park Place in East Hampton, the golfware creator’s shop has something for everyone — even non-golfers (although, truly, the golfers get the gamut). Polo shirts, tees, sweatshirts, hats and caps, shoes, skirts, shorts, pants, golf equipment, limited release merch, plus Grindstone Donuts — you name it. Vintage Shinnecock Golf Club paraphernalia and photos add to the interest. The shop is open from May 14 through June 28. Note: The pop-up is the first spot to nab Maxfli’s newest golf ball model, the Tour X-LS, a lower-spin evolution of the Maxfli Tour X.
