House proud
As the street name suggests, this unique home is sited on a parcel among towering pines. Built in 1979 and designed by Alfredo De Vido, a modernist architect who studied under Buckminster Fuller, the home reflects the style and aesthetics of its current owner, interior designer Kerry Delrose, who owns the Delrose Design Group.
“This is a house with so much character — definitely not cookie cutter,” says Will Schumann, the agent listing the barn-styled home at The Corcoran Group. “The architect did nine or 10 of the 15 homes on White Pine Road, each one is different from the next and all architecturally interesting.” The collection of homes on White Pine Road, a cul-de-sac in the Northwest Woods neighborhood, is a micro enclave on its own.
What’s the plan?
The home is an assemblage of three distinct wood-and-glass boxes, progressive for its time and emphasizing the concept of indoor-outdoor living, says Schumann. It is primarily laid out on one floor, but the middle volume is a two-floor “box” with three bedrooms and two bathrooms on the upper level. Otherwise, the open-format main floor features a 32 x 16 great room with glass walls on either side, 17.5-foot-high ceilings, a jewel-box wet bar and a fireplace; a glass-enclosed sunroom den with skylights, dining room and flexible foyer/entry space, collectively comprising 715 square feet. A home office and bedroom with full bath are separate from the common area by a hallway, offering privacy and access to a deck. There are five egresses to exterior decks or patios.

What’s cooking?
The appliance suite in the 160-square-foot kitchen includes a Viking range and Sub-Zero fridge. There are two dishwashers. The cherry cabinets are topped with verde alpi marble, a dark-green marble quarried in Italy’s Aosta Valley. A breakfast bar seats two.
What else?
In addition to the cosmetic upgrades the home has significant systems upgrades and a new roof. The garage includes a 7.5 x 20 dedicated storage space. The owner will consider selling select furnishings in a separate transaction.

Agent’s callout
“This home is the perfect blend of privacy in a serene setting equidistant to Sag Harbor and East Hampton villages and close to the beaches.” Schumann says, adding “The grounds are really special; a kind of mixture of manicured and natural.” The property has been planted with boxwoods, specimen plants, statuary and a garden path reminiscent of a European park.
Location, location, location
