It’s pizza with a whole lot of personality.
Following a successful opening in SoHo last year, Crazy Pizza made its East End debut earlier this summer in East Hampton.
Owned by lifestyle group Majestas and hospitality company Altamarea Group, Crazy Pizza is located at 47 Montauk Highway — where Kizzy T’s was last year and where Bamboo Restaurant was for many years beforehand — bringing a high-energy dining concept to the Hamptons’ restaurant scene with Italian-style cuisine offered in a lively, uniquely upbeat ambiance, as diners can experience signature dough-spinning performances during dinner service. This new location marks the 21st for the resto, globally, and the second in the United States.

Guests enter through an outdoor covered walkway, anchored with a neon sign and firetruck-red vintage Vespa that beckons toward the entrance. Inside, the low-ceilinged, just-over-2,400-square-feet space holds 100 seats in total. White walls run throughout, accented with glossy red lacquer and natural wood. Servers outfitted in white button downs with black pants and suspenders efficiently move through a buzzy dining room and bar area, adorned with black-topped tables, custom red-striped chairs and caramel leather banquettes throughout. Walls are dotted with black-and-white portraits of celebrities eating pizza.
Situated in the middle of the room, a 10-seat bar is bookended with magnums and jeroboams of Veuve Cliquot and Whispering Angel. Just beyond, toward the back right corner, sits the pizza ovens, helmed by at least three people at all times. Tucked toward the back of the building an outdoor patio seats up to 30 people. Lively and convivial, “the team drew inspiration from the brand’s flagship aesthetic as well as its beachside locations in St. Tropez, Porto Cervo and Ibiza, with the result being a hybrid concept that blends retro glamour with laid-back energy,” according to a press statement from the restaurant.
The menu, overseen by executive chef Simone Cavalagli, includes over 15 salads and starters containing both familiar Italian-American favorites and signature items, plus a handful of classic pasta dishes and entree options.
It’s the pizza that’s rightfully the main event here, with about two dozen options available, covering everything from a staple margherita to a decadent tartufo with freshly shaved black truffles to a luxurious pie bombed out with 30 grams of Volzhenka caviar. All pizzas are done Roman style, boasting super thin crusts and are available in whole grain format as well for a small supplemental charge. Additionally, there are about a dozen desserts available, typically designed for two and built à la minute, tableside by servers.

“At Crazy Pizza, we’ve created an experience that goes beyond the plate, celebrating the craft of pizza-making through performance and play,” says founder and principal of Crazy Pizza, Flaviro Briatore. “Heading to East Hampton felt like a natural move for our second U.S. location, bringing us a taste of the European summer that Crazy Pizza is known for with out Porto Cervo, St. Tropez and Ibiza locations. We’re looking forward to offering something completely unique to the Hamptons market; serving both new and returning guests in a space that’s fun, festive and full of flavor.”

Additionally, the East Hampton locale will feature resident DJs playing tunes Thursday through Sunday nights.
For us, funny enough, the name is a misnomer. Crazy Pizza isn’t actually crazy at all. It’s quite smart and in a way, refreshing, as it provides diners with a bit of good, clean entertainment along with more-than-tasty food, all in one location.
Crazy Pizza will remain open through September. To book your reservation, click here.
