Sometimes you just have to dream big. Frank Fisher knows all about that.

Originally from Flanders, Fisher grew his businesses, 631 Propane and Go Green Sanitation, from the ground up, becoming one of, if not the, largest supplier of both necessary services in the Hamptons and the East End.

“I’m a local guy; that’s what it comes down to. I grew up here, I’m raising my kids here, I live here. I’m not going anywhere!” laughs the Westhampton resident. “There’s no place like home.”

But still, it’s good to get out and see new things, which is how Fisher’s 631 Vodka came to be. He was on a visit to Miami when he met Dieuveny “DJ” Jean Louis, the Miami-based CEO and founder of Toast Distillers, one of the few Black-owned distilleries in the country. The two entrepreneurs became fast friends.

“When he came up here to visit and he saw what I’m doing with my 631 Propane business, he said, man, you don’t realize what you’ve got going on here! And it just clicked. That’s how it began,” says Fisher. “He calls me Mr. 631.”

The corn-based (just like your Tito’s, but… from the East Coast, not Texas!), 750ml bottle is a cool $24.99 and, for now, available from their website — although expect to see it on your local shop shelves soon, as Fisher just signed with a distributor and is ready to shake and stir things up this spring and summer.

Cheers to your area code.

631 Vodka’s Success

Prep Time 1 minute
Serves 1 cocktail

Ingredients

  • 2 oz 631 Vodka
  • 1 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 1 oz lavender simple syrup
  • 1 egg white
  • splash of club soda
  • 3 blueberries, skewered on a long toothpick

Directions

  • In a shaker, combine first four ingredients and shake vigorously without ice to aerate and whip the egg white for 30 seconds.
  • Add ice and shake again, 15 to 20 seconds more, or until very cold and frothy.
  • Strain into a double rocks glass with ice. Top with a little club soda and garnish with skewered blueberries. Cheers!

Lavender syrup

  • Combine equal parts water and sugar (1 cup each is a good place to start) with 2 tablespoons of dried lavender flowers.
  • Simmer over medium heat, stirring, until sugar dissolves.
  • Strain out the flowers through a fine mesh sieve. Discard the lavender flowers.
  • Store in a container or jar with a tight seal for up to one month in the refrigerator.
