Baseball and hot dogs are about as classic Americana as it comes. If you’re not a carnivore, or just don’t dig mystery meat, you’ve been left out of the bun fun at ball games, Nikki’s Not Dogs (51 Division St., Sag Harbor, 631-899-4429) is upping the game with a Yankee and Dodger-themed dog offer right in time for the World Series.

This all-vegan hot dog dispensary is offering both the NY Dog and LA Dog with all the fixings (you can opt for it to be deconstructed, too, to dress your own) in packages of four of each (eight for $88) or five of each (10 for $100). The popular NY Dog comes smothered in sauerkraut, spicy brown mustard and their signature tomato-onion sauce. Meanwhile, the LA Dog gets topped with sautéed peppers and onions, pico de gallo and the holy condiment trinity of ketchup, yellow mustard and mayo.

The meatless hot dog spot opened this past summer, offering dogs and burgers of the vegan variety — a category of cuisine that still suffers from a smattering of restaurants and take-out spots offering the non-animal-product goods. This was the impetus for Springs resident Nikki Glick, who seized the opportunity to introduce a meatless alternative in a fun format.

As reported by Southforker this past August, Glick sources her soy, pea protein and potato starch vegan dogs from Field Roast, a plant-based meat and cheese company based out of Seattle, Wash., and a forerunner in the vegan meat category. And if you haven’t stopped by her spot on Division Street, you’re in for a pleasant throwback surprise. While vegan food might have the outdated rep of being offered from patchouli-scented, gauze-strewn, wheat-grass serving cafés, Nikki’s Not Dogs is a bright and fun ’50s throwback, complete with black and white checkered floors with stainless steel and Formica accents, along with taxi-yellow counter chairs.

Nikki’s World Series dog deal runs the bases of the series, which starts Oct. 25 and goes until the last team is standing. To order, email [email protected] or call 631-899-4429. Batter up!
