Spring is starting to do it’s thing, slowly but surely.
And thank god, since this winter was certainly one for the scrapbook. As we ready ourselves for the upcoming weekend, consider these highlights to make your time that much warmer.

Guild Hall (158 Main St., East Hampton, 631-324-0806) hosts its Winter Classic series with a special screening of “Paths of Glory” — a monumental film from 1957 directed by the great Stanley Kubrick that explores the anti-human aspects of war, starring Kirk Douglas who answers his country’s call to the battlefield. Presented by HamptonsFilm co-chair Alec Baldwin and chief creative officer David Nugent, the event starts at 7 p.m. this Friday. Tickets are $25 and are available here.
Get jazzy at the Masonic Temple
Hamptons JazzFest‘s winter series continues with “Jazz is Grace Under Pressure” this Friday night at the Masonic Temple in Sag Harbor (200 Main St.) beginning at 7 p.m. Featuring Grammy Award-winning tenor saxophonist Bob Franceschini, bassist Santi Debriano, guitarist Tom Guarna, and drummer and JazzFest executive director Claes Brondal, guests may enjoy a dinner offering from Tapovana Lunch Box beginning at 6:30 p.m. Showtime is at 7 p.m. General admission is $20.
Take in two Paddy’s Day parades
This Saturday, two Hamptons hamlets host their own respective parades in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. Westhampton Beach‘s downtown will be packed as grand marshal Allyson Barone Scerri leads the march, set to kick off at Oneck Lane, continuing down Mill Road, turning right and ending at Main Street, near the Great Lawn parking lot. Simultaneously, in Amagansett, the shortest parade on the East End, aptly called Am O’Gansett St. Patrick’s Day Parade starts at noon on Main Street.

Gear up for spring at Sag Saturdays
Another round of Sag Saturdays comes to the former whaling village this Saturday, March 14. Clean up a local beach in Hampton Bays
A Marsh Madness Beach Cleanup is at the Tiana Bayside Facility (89 Dune Road, Hamptons Bays) hosted by Back to the Bays, a marine program intiative from Cornell Cooperative Extension. Now that winter is on her way out, this is a great opportunity to clean deeply in the marshes, as the grasses have not started to grow, ticks and mosquitos aren’t active and spring wildlife isn’t in full swing. Starts at 10:30 a.m. All participants are welcome to meet at Whales Tale afterward for a post-cleanup hang. Rain date is Sunday, March 15.
Get crafty on Shelter Island
A second Saturday craft is on at the Shelter Island Public Library (37 North Ferry Road, 631-749-0042) this Saturday beginning at 11:30 a.m. Do you love a warm beverage on a cold day? Well, if so, you’re in luck as this craft entails making a felt mug cozy to help keep your cup warm and your hands protected. A total win-win. Register here.
