A bourbon riff on a Rosarita is the cocktail of choice this weekend. (Photo courtesy of Four Roses Bourbon)

Okay, so, it may be Rosalita who the Boss cues to jump a little higher, but Rosarita? She’ll make you want to come sit by her fire.

We are digging this riff on the modern classic, Rosarita — which, surprise, normally would have tequila at its base. Our friends over at Four Roses decided to give it a little bourbon boost, using those lovely vanilla and caramel notes in the spirit as a counterpoint to the spicy Tajin rim.

Bonus: You can make a frozen version! Woot, woot! Just toss all the liquid ingredients in a blender with ice (whole strawberries work better in this instance), and blend until smooth. Using a Collins or highball glass, rim the edge with the Tajin and strain the cocktail in.

Grab yourself some Four Roses at pretty much any of our East End spirits shops, but we know for sure you can get a bottle at Hamptons Wine Shoppe in Westhampton Beach, Park Place Wines and Race Lane Liquors in East Hampton and Bottle Hampton in Southampton.

Cheers, friends. Jump a little lighter…

Spicy Rosarita

Prep Time 1 minute
Serves 1 cocktail

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 oz Four Roses Small Batch Bourbon
  • 1/2 oz orange liqueur
  • 3/4 oz fresh lime juice
  • 3/4 oz strawberry puree, or 3 muddled strawberries (you can still find them on farm stands!)
  • 1 tbsp Tajin seasoning
  • 1 lime slice

Directions

  • Combine the bourbon, orange liqueur, lime juice and strawberry puree in a shaker with ice. Shake very well, for about 15 seconds, until puree is thoroughly combined and drink is very cold.
  • Using the squeezed-out lime rind, wet the rim of a double rocks glass. Dip into the Tajin, coating the edges.
  • Strain the cocktail into the rocks glass and garnish with a lime slice. Cheers!
