Supporting the arts is one thing, but for Claudja Bicalho, owner of Lazypoint Variety (171 Main St., Amagansett, 631-604-1268), art is the very fabric of daily life. Drawing inspiration from the variety stores of her childhood in Minas Gerais, Brazil, Bicalho has spent 16 years curating a seasonal sanctuary — a concept store full of curiosities, jewelry, clothes, art and objects that offers a little bit of old, a bit of new and a lot of handmade. Within the shop, open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Bicalho’s engaging personality and hostess philosophy transform the retail experience into something personal, where she encourages what she describes as “wandering and wondering.” Here, every artisanal treasure tells a story and every object invites discovery.

1. Marine and Deerfield “The Bianca Sunshade” ($350) An upscale, rancher-style straw braid wide-brim hat featuring a “Bianca” (yes, that ‘70s style icon Bianca Jagger) crown. Each one-of-a-kind piece is handmade by Suzanne Warfield using a vintage machine and trimmed with a braided horsehair band and stampede cord.

2. Handblown Vintage Glassware (prices vary) Delicate, textured glassware sourced from Bicalho’s travels to places like Brimfield, Mass. These pieces feature the unique “noise” and character only found in traditional European hand-blown glass.

3. Custom Gemstone Pendants (starting at $300) Hand-cut stone hearts designed by Bicalho. These unique pairings — such as lapis lazuli with blue opal or onyx with emerald — ensure that no two pendants are exactly alike.

4. Ila Cross Ceramic Birds ($350)

Whimsical, hand-sculpted creations by Manhattan-based ceramicist Ila Cross. While famous for her urban pigeons, this blue-footed booby, a marine bird native to the eastern Pacific, is a tribute to the artist’s husband’s favorite species.

5. Vintage “Buzios” Bag (inquire for pricing) Bicalho sources these artisanal bags, each intricately adorned with cowrie shells, from Papua New Guinea. In her native Brazil, healers traditionally use these shells, known as buzios, to tell fortunes.

6. Signature Leather “AM/PM” Totes ($290) Designed and crafted by Bicalho herself, these timeless totes transition effortlessly from the farmers market to an evening out. The structured base is the perfect size to hold an iPad and daily essentials.
