As the buzz continues to grow around the Hamptons just before Memorial Day Weekend, we’re busy savoring the last licks of the off-season… and you should be, too!

Here, we’re including our top picks for weekend fun to be found across the South Shore. Some are a look back at the history of our area, while some look to the future season ahead, and beyond.

Take a tour through Southampton Village

A new series of self-guided walking tours throughout the village of Southampton launches Friday, May 8. The initiative, led by Mayor Bill Manger, includes a free, downloadable mobile app designed to bring the rich history of the village to life for both residents and visitors alike. Accessible anytime and from anywhere within the village, the tours feature over 30 landmarks in and around the village, along with selected, curated shorter excursions. Key sites include the Pelletreau Shop and Monument Square to the Southampton African American Museum and the Dune Church.

Go to a book signing with mob maven Jeffrey Sussman

A book talk and signing with author Jeffrey Sussman is this Friday from 4 to 5 p.m. at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church (26 St. Mary’s Road, Shelter Island). Sussman’s book “Mafia Hits, Misses, Wars, and Prosecutions: The Rise and Decline of the Mob in America” is a unique study on how the mob adapted to the murders of its bosses, failed hits, internecine wars, and more throughout the better part of the 20th century in the United States. Meditate in Water Mill

Life gets a little crazy doesn’t it? Kadampa Meditation Center (720C Montauk Highway in Water Mill) hosts “Simply Meditate” every Friday form 11 to 11:20 a.m. The quick mediation sessions rotate through nine meditations focusing on relaxation and practical wisdom while hoping to develop a clear mind and inner peace. Drop ins are welcome, $15 per person.

Pay tribute to Mom, Star Wars style

Southampton Youth Bureau is ready to celebrate Mom, in a galaxy not so far away with a Star Wars-themed Mother’s Day Pancake Breakfast this Saturday, May 9, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Hampton Bays Community Center, located at 25 Ponquogue Avenue, Hampton Bays. The event will feature fresh pancakes, breakfast favorites, and Star Wars–inspired fun for all ages. Guests are invited to dress as their favorite characters, snap photos with themed decorations, and enjoy a festive atmosphere honoring the mothers and caregivers who make our communities strong. In addition to breakfast, there’ll be crafts for kids, bingo for adults, and raffle opportunities for items donated by local businesses. All proceeds support the Youth Advisory Committee’s community service programs. Tickets are available at a discounted rate of $10 per person or $20 for a family of up to four with pre-registration. Head to “Herstory and Heritage Tea”

Mothers and daughters are welcome to a special afternoon tea on Saturday, May 9, at the American Legion Hall on the East Hampton/Amagansett border (15 Montauk Highway) starting at noon. Sure to be an afternoon of history, heritage and honoring the women whose classically “domestic” lives were actually the backbone of society’s economy and social fabric, the fine folks of Eastville Community Historical Society are hosting the event commemorating 250 years of their legacy. In addition to tea from Brooklyn Tea, goodies from Charas Kitchen & Catering, there’ll be a tablescape competition with table captains Dr. Nichelle Rivers, Renee V. Simons and Dr. Georgette Grier-Key, along with guest speaker Melanie Cardone-Leathers, certified archivist and head of the Thomas R. Bayles local history room at Longwood Public Library. Tickets are $50 per person, $20 for youth. Dress code is spring florals and garden party elegance.

Celebrate an East Hampton couple’s golden anniversary

Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor hosts “Amy & Monte: A Legacy of Love and Creativity” this Saturday at 4 p.m. The one-hour documentary chronicles the extraordinary enduring love of visionary artist and couture fashion designer and bestselling spiritual author Monte Farber, as the East Hampton-based couple celebrate 50 years together. Tickets are $20.

Welcome spring at The Church

The fourth annual Spring Jubilee is at The Church (48 Madison St., Sag Harbor, 631-919-5342) is on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. A day of family fun with something for everyone, the event celebrates the spring season, creativity and community. Activities include arts and crafts activities for kids, a scavenger hunt, and an opportunity to learn about the current exhibition “A Thousand Words: The Photography of The New Yorker.” There’ll be a lunch pop-up in the garden, featuring food from K Pasa and Sen. Also on Saturday, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., there’ll be a one-of-a-kind concert “Melodies with Michael” performed by Ross School student Michael J. Coppola. Dance and be merry, with art at Southampton Arts Center

Twilight Hamptons Dance Party is at Southampton Arts Center (25 Jobs Lane, 631-283-0967) this Saturday, May 9, from 7 to 11 p.m. Featuring music from DJ Nick Russo, a cash bar and small bites, the evening also includes “Bodies in Motion” art show, featuring works from established artists, Andreas Verrios (@mrnycsubway), Brad Walls, Sonya Sklaroff, and Joanna Steidle. Sure to be a night of good food and drink, nostalgic dance music and interesting art, tickets start at $44 and are available here.

Swing by Sag Saturdays

Sag Saturdays — the off-season initiative occurring the second Saturday each month where businesses of the former whaling village band together and show the community a good ol’ time — continue throughout Sag Harbor Village this Saturday, May 9. Action includes a free yoga session at ID Hot Yoga (51 Division St.) beginning at 9 a.m.; an Off-Main Market at The Church (48 Madison St.); Dumplings, Dogs, Crafts and Live Music from noon to 8 p.m. at Kidd Squid (11 Spring St.); a Swedish hot dog pop-up at BonBon (9 Washington St.) from noon to 3 p.m.; a SOTO sake tasting and discussion from 4 to 5 p.m. at Sen (23 Main St.) and much more! Gaze at garden-inspired art at Duck Creek

The Arts Center at Duck Creek (127 Squaw Road, East Hampton, 631-604-8464) presents “What the Garden Remembers,” a solo exhibition by artist Avani Patel, on display in the Little Gallery starting Saturday, May 9, continuing through June 14. Featuring paintings and drawings, the exhibition explores the relationship between memory, ecology and lived experience, particularly drawing from early memories of Patel’s mother’s garden and natural landscape. A reception for Patel’s new exhibition is on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m.
