Fish, meat, pasta, seasonings, sauces, completely prepared holiday meals… Citarella has become a staple for New Yorkers looking to up the pantry and ‘fridge ante. As of today, Thursday, April 30, the foodie forum is now adding Westhampton Beach to its list of gourmet shops.

“For years, customers in Westhampton Beach have asked for a Citarella closer to home,” said owner Joe Gurrera in a statement to the press. “We’re glad to be part of the community — and to share our passion for great food and real quality.”

Part of the hungry Hamptons community for a quarter of a century, Citarella opened its first store in 1912 in Manhattan, when founder Mike Citarella began providing fresh seafood to the uptown crowd. In 1985, Gurrera, long in the fish biz, bought the business and began building what would become one of the most clamored for gourmet markets in the city, adding prime meats, dried goods and other specialty products and catering over the years. In 2002, he opened the Hamptons first outpost in East Hampton, adding Bridgehampton and Southampton, as well as Greenwich, Conn., along the way.

The new Westhampton Beach location will offer fresh fish, prime, 21-day dry-aged meat, in-house chef-prepared foods, farm-fresh and organic produce, freshly baked desserts and other gourmet sundries.

As a promotional offering for the new shop, if you sign up for emails at Citarella.com/westhampton, you can be automatically entered for a $500 prize in their Westhampton Grand Opening Giveaway (thanks, Joe!).

Citarella Westhampton Beach is located at 141 Montauk Highway, 631-283-6600. They are open daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
