As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, the sense of community connectedness remains strong across the Hamptons well into this weekend’s itinerary.

Whether it’s a ‘pay what you can’ theater performance, a food drive, a community garden planting or silent auction to benefit a nearly century old community hub, South Forkers across all hamlets are at the ready to lend a helping hand to help their fellow neighbor.

The best part is, they make it fun. Here’s a taste of what’s up for this weekend:

See a classic play at Bay Street

Ray Bradbury’s classic science fiction novel Fahrenheit 451 comes to life at Bay Street Theater (1 Long Wharf, Sag Harbor, 631-725-9500) tonight at 7 p.m. Part of the theater’s “Literature Live!” series (where local students get to see performances for free), the play also kicks off Bay Street’s off-season “Pay What You Can” performances. Fahrenheit will be on stage until Nov. 30, with evening shows at 7 p.m. and matinees at 2 p.m. Get tickets here or head to the theater box office and pay what you can.

Trivia and half-priced tipples at Rams Head!

The Rams Head Inn (108 South Ram Island Drive, 631-749-0811) on Shelter Island hosts a happy hour tonight (and Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, too, if you’re interested!) from 3 to 7 p.m. offering 50% off select drinks. Tomorrow, don’t miss an opportunity to strut your trivia stuff as Think Inc. Trivia takes over Rams Head starting at 6 p.m.

Paint, sip and graze at SAC

A paint and sip workshop, for both beginners and seasoned painters, is at Southampton Arts Center (25 Jobs Lane, Southampton 631-283-0967) tonight starting at 6 p.m., led by instructor Deborah Acquino. Learn the fundamentals of blending and mixing paint colors while creating your own unique masterpiece. Plus, you can enjoy sipping wine and sharing laughter with friends in a vibrant, supportive setting. $35 for nonmembers, $30 for members. Register here. On Friday, Nov. 14, learn how to design, style and assemble a signature special grazing board sure to impress your holiday dining guests. Instruction will include board design, a curated selection of artisanal ingredients, plus complimentary wine and small bites. Let East Hampton Library entertain you

Today at 4 p.m., the East Hampton Library (159 Main St., 631-324-0222) hosts a vinyl record painting class for adults. At the same time, for the kids, it’s “Foodie Fun: Sleeping Bag Slumber Party Snacks & Knife Skills,” where the kiddos will learn how to make a cute little cookie and graham cracker character tucked into an edible sleeping bag. This Sunday, Nov. 16, marks the start of a season-long coat drive happening at the library. Drop off gently used coats (all sizes), hats, gloves and scarves to help families in need in the East Hampton area. Coat drive continues through March 20, 2026.

Bid at Ashawagh’s Hall silent art auction

An opening reception for the “Walk This Way” silent art auction is this Friday, Nov. 14, 5 to 8 p.m. at Ashawagh Hall (780 Springs Fireplace Road, East Hampton). Silent auction and bidding begins tomorrow and continues through Sunday, Nov. 16, with the final bidding and coffee reception happening from 10 a.m. to noon. Gallery hours on Saturday, Nov. 15, will be from noon to 5 p.m. This silent auction will feature over 80 original works by local artists, each created on a 12” x 12” panel. Bidding starts at $125 on Friday night. Funds raised will go toward installing a new front door and access ramp at Ashawagh Hall, ensuring continued accessibility for all visitors.

A celebration of Rauschenberg starts Saturday at Guild Hall

The 2025/2026 “Student Art Festival: Rauschenberg 100” begins this Saturday at Guild Hall (158 Main St., East Hampton, 631-324-0806). Commemorating the centennial of Robert Rauschenberg’s birth as part of an international initiative organized by the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, the festival is a collaboration between eight East End public schools and 10 regional artists, with participating schools including Amagansett School, Bridgehampton School, East Hampton High School, East Hampton Middle School, John Marshall Elementary School, Pierson Middle-High School, Shelter Island School and Springs School. The exhibition explores what Rauschenberg described as the “gap between art and life,” embracing experimentation and chance through a wide variety of materials and creative approaches. Participating artists are Linda K. Alpern, Scott Bluedorn, Peter Dayton, Eva Faye, Margaret Garrett, Candace Hill-Montgomery, Laurie Lambrecht, Bastienne Schmidt, Kevin Teare and Evan Yee. It will be on view through January 4. A special talk on Rauschenberg’s book I Don’t Think About Being Great is on Saturday at 5 p.m., moderated by editor Francine Snyder. Tickets for that are $25. Get a community garden going in Hampton Bays

The Hampton Bays Chamber of Commerce hosts a community planting day this Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. Bring garden gloves, a shovel and a good attitude with a little dose of community spirit to the chamber’s office (located at 15a W. Montauk Highway), as they prepare to plant a few hundred perennial flowers to brighten up the hamlet’s community garden space.

Catch some top-tier comedy in Southampton

An “All-Star Comedy Show” is at Sticks and Stones Comedy Club (25 Pond Lane, Southampton) on Saturday night at 8 p.m. Featuring comedic stylings from Steve Rocco, Michelle Schwartzman, Sag Harbor native Joe Winchell and D’yan Forest, doors open for the show at 7:30 p.m. and general admission is $40.25. Celebrate indigenous art and artists at Ma’s House

Last chance to see “Resilient Roots” at Ma’s House (159 Old Point Road, 631-566-0486) in Southampton is this weekend. Curated by Brianna Hernandez and Jeremy Dennis, the exhibition celebrates the strength and spirit of the Shinnecock community with works from over 40 indigenous and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) artists. Works include moving visual art, beadwork, sculpture and poetry reflectin resilience, healing and cultural pride. Open hours at Ma’s House are Thursdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Take part in a food drive at Kidd Squid

A community food drive and fundraiser is at Kidd Squid Brewing Co. (11 Spring St., Sag Harbor, 631-500-0533) this Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Come have a beer and drop off donations of non-perishable food items and funds to benefit the Sag Harbor and Springs food pantries.
