Earlier this week, renowned East End staple Tate’s Bake Shop (43 North Sea Road, 631-283-9830) — the Southampton-founded bakery originally helmed by North Sea native Kathleen King — announced their holiday cookie line-up.

The limited-edition treats include both new and returning favorites — perfect for gifting, entertaining or simply indulging in a little festive sweet treat. “Craft-baked with high-quality ingredients, including real butter and chocolate, the highlights include fan-favorite dark chocolate peppermint bark and brand-new holiday packaging of their signature super thin, buttery but crispy chocolate chip cookies,” says a press statement from the bake shop. Other seasonal offerings that made the Christmas-season cookie cut include the popular chocolate toffee cookies, gingersnap cookies (inspired by Tate’s original Southampton bake shop’s gingerbread recipe) and gluten-free chocolate chip cookies.

Additionally Tate’s is offering myriad gift basket options and plenty of comfy, cozy merch, all available for nationwide shipping. Be a cookie baller and snag the Best of Southampton Basket for your nearest and dearest, filled with a curated confectionary cache including chocolate chip cookie pie, blondies, brownies, coffee cake, lemon loaf and assorted bags of the beloved bake shop’s classic cookies.

Originally founded 25 years ago by King, Tate’s has been owned by Mondelez International since 2018. In addition to the Southampton mainstay location, Tate’s also has a 40,000-square-foot wholesale facility in East Moriches, which is responsible for producing the brand’s cookies for national distribution. If you’re not on the East End, the cookies are available through major stores like Walmart, Target and Amazon.

Of course, we urge you to shop small and shop local, but we understand if you need to use a “big box” store to snag these stocking-stuffer worthy, locally made sweet treats. Sometimes that’s the way the cookie crumbles.
