Cookies and ice cream — it’s a classic combo, no matter how you like it: smashed between two cookies, mixed up altogether, or just nestled in the same vessel.
Starting today, Levain Bakery, which turns 30 this year, will be offering up a summery pairing of the cream-and-cookie combo, starring ice cream from The End’s John’s Drive-In, the Montauk mainstay that’s been serving American classics, like burgers, fish and chips, clam strips and their popular homemade ice cream, since 1967.

“There is no sweeter pairing than cookies and ice cream, and no better time to bring them together than during our 30th anniversary year,” said John Maguire, CEO of Levain Bakery, in a statement to the press. “We’re thrilled to partner with such incredible local ice cream makers to bring something extra special to our neighborhood bakeries this summer. Ice cream has long been one of the most requested treats from our customers. This collaboration is a fun, nostalgic way to surprise and delight them, while continuing to celebrate the community spirit and love of sweets that’s defined Levain since 1995.”
Starting May 23, head on over to Levain’s Hamptons outpost (354 Montauk Highway, Wainscott, 631-604-4123) for a scoop of John’s traditional daily-churned French vanilla served alongside their seasonal release of the Rocky Road cookie, a dreamy marshmallow-packed dark chocolate baked homage to the classic ice cream flavor. The combo costs $10.50 and will be around until sun sets on the summer of 2025.
