When the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles take to the field this Sunday, Feb. 9 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, you’re not going to want to keep jumping up and down to refill drinks and open bottles (or, even worse, go on a beer run). Aside from an abundance of finger foods and pizza on speed dial, there’s one thing you need for a successful evening in front of the television: Punch.

Since around the mid-17th century, punch — typically, a combo of spirit, citrus, sugar and spice — has been the ultimate way to wet the whistles of a thirsty crowd. And while fancy punch bowls and ladles might seems not quite the gear for a day of touchdowns and chicken wings, it’s actually one of the best ways to serve your friends and fam and enjoy the game yourself, too.

Our friends over at Gray Whale gin shared this recipe for their End Zone Elixir, a fun, quenching combo of gin (Gray Whale is available in a multitude of local shops, such as Park Place Wines in East Hampton, Bottle Hampton in Southampton and Hamptons Wine Shoppe in Westhampton Beach), cranberry, coconut water, apple and pear juices. Mix it up this weekend — and may your favored team fly to victory!
