You can’t throw a cocktail cherry without hitting a Negroni these days. The classic cocktail has become so incredibly popular, bars and restaurants nationwide have entire menu sections devoted to myriad versions of this fundamental one-two-three ingredient drink. But that’s its beauty: When a drink is so simple, it lets the ingredients really shine. That’s exactly what made us say, “Mmmmm…!” when we recently sampled Nick & Toni’s excellent riff, Blondes Have More Fun.
It also employs the use of two of our favorite gins—Vermont’s Caledonia Spirits Barr Hill Gin and a their barrel-aged Barr Hill Tom Cat Gin, both of which employ local honey as the source of fermentation. Take note that the white vermouth here is a Bianco, a slightly sweeter version of your typical dry vermouth. It makes a difference! Nab the Barr Hill and a lovely Bianco vermouth at Wainscott Wine & Spirits in Wainscott and get mixing!
