You might associate the German celebration of Oktoberfest beer, beer and more beer (which, you know, isn’t so far off), but it actually originated as a day to celebrate the marriage of King Ludwig and Princess Therese on Oct. 12, 1810 in Munich, Germany. Over the years, the party has grown and, like many harvest-centric celebrations in the fall, has become a great reason to take in the good weather, heartier fare and, yes, raise a stein to the simple pleasures. Here in the Hamptons, we’ve got a few ways to boast your love for Bavaria, so be sure to check out any (or all) of these Oktoberfest happenings.

Kidd Squid Brewing Co., 11 Spring St., Sag Harbor, 631-500-0533
Head to the Kidd (and their new expanded beer garden) on Oct. 10 and 11 for a weekend’s worth of bratwurst, pastrami, Bavarian pretzels and, of course, all the delicious brews to go with, including some new special releases just for the occasion. Both days live music will fill the outdoors from 1 to 7 p.m., and fun for the whole fam in the form of games and other goodies will be on hand, too.

Rowdy Hall, 177 Main St., Amagansett, 631-324-8555
Head to Rowdy for 10 days of German food and drink during their mini-Oktoberfest Takeover at the Amagansett haunt. A trio of Munich Oktoberfest beers will be on tap, along with rib-sticking specials like the wurst-a-palooza (knock, brat and bock) platter, currywurst (bratwurst served on a pretzel roll), the beer garden platter piled with limburger, beer and chorherrenkäse cheeses, pretzel bites, sausages, apple slices and mustard, schnitzel and spaetzel and, of course, Black Forest cake and even a stout pudding. Yum.
Solé East, 90 Second House Road, Montauk, 631-668-2105

Traditional(ish) garb encouraged!

On Oct. 3, come hang with reality TV personality Edward “Big Ed” Brown at Whales Tale for a day of brews, brats, Bavarian pretzels and boisterous music (plus, wellness venders — which, after a day of drinking beer and Jaeger shots and eating sausage are definitely worth paying a visit to).
