They say that soup is good for the soul, acting as an almost-medicine for both the body and the mind.
On March 8, at the Amagansett American Legion Post 419 (15 Montauk Highway, East Hampton), the annual Empty Bowls fundraising event to benefit Project MOST does just that for the East End community, and then some, one bowl at a time.
From noon to 3 p.m. this Sunday, the event sees a wide array of soups hand-crafted by some of the area’s most talented chefs available for tasting while supporting Project MOST’s vital programs for children and families. The family friendly event will also feature a 50/50 raffle, live music and family fun for all. Project MOST mugs will be for sale and takeout (by the pint) is also available.
While the event is a highly anticipated one every year, Empty Bowls has always been more than just an annual community event— it’s a powerful reminder that together, we can make a difference. The soups are just a really awesome perk.

“Every bowl helps fuel Project MOST’s year-round programs that uplift, educate, and show up for our kiddos when they need it most,” says Manuela Hurtado, digital media and communications manager for Project Most.
For 25 years, Project MOST’s been committed to bridging the experience gap for East End children and families by providing year-round, affordable access to dynamic and enriching programs for youngsters, with a mission to inspire students and families to achieve their utmost in life through after-school, summer and community programming. With the intent to inspire all children and families to be empowered members of the community, Project MOST nurtures those who want to learn, create, express themselves, and help others. According to a press statement from the nonprofit, “The programs offered through Project MOST have been shown to increase learning time by 35% and improve student performance in math, science, technology, engineering, the arts and language arts.”
In addition to benefitting the best of causes, this year’s Empty Bowls is also an excellent opportunity to slurp on the stuff of all your favorite South Fork restaurants. Participants include Fresno, Carissa’s, Almond, Estia’s Little Kitchen, Bell & Anchor, Nick & Toni’s, La Fondita, One Stop Market, Sen, Springs Tavern, Townline BBQ, Rosie’s, Art of Eating and Red Horse Market, as well as entires from the Hayground School and East Hampton High School.
