House proud

After three years of painstaking planning and construction, this home is on the market, a western-facing parcel abutting a natural preserve. Though the team behind the home was local — architect Brian Brady, construction by Fifth & Dune Partners and landscape design by Summerhill — the listing has a little west coast buzz: It is owned by Los Angeles financier Michael Green (Dakota Financial) and his wife, “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum Marisa Zanuck. The couple bought the property in 2022 and completely overhauled it, giving it scale, size and bespoke finishes.

“The goal was to find the best piece of property they could to build the house they wanted,” says Adam Hofer, the Douglas Elliman listing agent who sold the parcel to the owners in 2022, and who is representing the current sale with Michael Lorber. He described it as then neglected and so overgrown you couldn’t see the adjacent reserve.

“They wanted to build a big house but it’s not a cavernous house. It feels like a real home,” Hofer says, adding the couple, who have a blended family of adult children, wanted a home that was “conducive to having a lot of people in the house at the same time.”

What’s the plan?

A covered entry leads into a grand foyer featuring an impressive staircase and double-height ceilings and straight-through entry to the back patio. To the right of the foyer is a bedroom suite with a home office; to the left is a great room with an open format for the living and dining rooms, and featuring a fireplace.

The back of the house is devoted to the large chef’s kitchen, additional dining areas, another family room with fireplace and conveniences such as dual pantries, a half bath and mudroom. The upper level is dedicated to four ensuite bedrooms and a generous primary suite with a walk-in closet, sitting area and an oversized bathroom packed with amenities. The basement level is impressively outfitted for entertainment: a gym that Hofer says is “probably one of the best-looking I’ve ever seen,” a home theater, game room, wine room, and a bunkroom with full bath. There’s plenty of storage for recreational gear, and access to an exterior courtyard.

What’s cooking?

Borrowing from the 1986 hit by Timbuk 3, the sun-filled kitchen is so bright, ya gotta wear shades. And that’s thanks to light pouring in through a wall of windows overlooking the back yard and the crisp, white Shaker-style cabinetry. The appliance suite includes Miele, Sub-Zero and a 60-inch midnight-blue stove by ILVE. The counters are blue-veined “Calcutta turquoise.” The center island has a convenience sink and seats four; there is additional seating for dining and leisure. A reverse osmosis filter for the hot/cold water dispenser services the built-in coffee feature by Miele.

What else?

The home is offered furnished, including the gym equipment.

One cool thing

The property backs up to a nature preserve, is western facing with the advantage of “endless sunsets” Hofer says.

Agent’s callout

“This is probably the only new construction of its kind south of the highway between Bridgehampton and Wainscott in terms of custom details and finishes,” says Hofer, adding, “It’s close to the beach, yet quiet, private, with big open skies, big farm views and sunsets. The light and sun are phenomenal and part of the appeal.”
