The resounding sound of bow to strings seems like exactly the right present for Itzhak Perlman. And lucky you, you get to to enjoy his glorious gift of music, too.
On Monday, Aug. 25, eight outstanding alumni of the Perlman Music Program will bring their talents to the Jewish Center of the Hamptons (44 Woods Lane, East Hampton) at 6 p.m., in a unique concert featuring performers Areta Zhulla, Eric Sulzberger, Grammy award-winning violinist Michelle Ross, Sean Lee, Matthew Lipman, Cal Fist, Jia Kim and Tomy Mesa, performing select compositions of Mozart, Mendelssohn and Shostakovich.
“It’s a beautiful mix of nostalgia and gratitude. Reconnecting in a meaningful way while honoring Mr. Perlman, who had such an immense impact on our lives, makes the occasion feel even more memorable and heartfelt,” says cellist and PMP’s director of alumni programs Jia Kim.

The program, which launched as a nexus of musical training for the world’s most promising and talented classical string players, launched in 1994 by Perlman’s spouse, Toby, and its a summer-long free recitals a key part of summer on the East End.
Tickets for the show are $60 and available for purchase here or at the door.
