A good book and a comfy bed — key ingredients to a great weekend away. Founder and best-selling author Jane Ubell-Meyer’s page-turner event, Bedside Reading, is back for another summer in the Hamptons — and, this year, the North Fork, too.
Kicking off Memorial Day weekend, this year’s crop of books is shaping up to be a best-seller bonanza, and will include:
- Something I Keep Upstairs by J.D. Barker
- She Thinks Big by Andrea Liebross
- Shooting Stars Above by Patricia Leavy
- This Time Could Be Different by Khristin Wierman
- Morning Fuel by Rebecca Faye Smith Galli
- Death, A Love Story by Janell Flores Bolte
- When Wisdom Arrives by Rosalyn Rourke
- The Vitality Map by Dr. Deborah Zucker
- Stories My Father Told Me by Seymour Ubell
Now in its eight year, guests of participating hotels in the Hamptons and on the North Fork will receive complimentary Bedside Reading tote bags filled with the book selections for the summer during select weekends throughout the summer, starting Memorial Day Weekend. New this year: the change to win the Penguin Random House Audio “Playlist in the Park” prize pack, which includes a trio of audio-book downloads, a Ban.do picnic blanket and cooler and wireless headphones.
Once again this year, the Capri Hotel will host a Bedside Reading Summer Author Celebration on Tuesday, Aug. 19, which is open to all with wine and light bites, will feature this year’s roster of writers ready to sign their tomes.
Founded in 2017, Udell-Meyer, came up with the idea of partnering with boutique hotels around the country, curating a select group of books offered complimentary to hotel guests. In addition to the Capri, other Hamptons-based hotels participating in her wordy mission are Mill House Inn, The Maidstone, Journey East Hampton, Baker House 1650, Southampton Inn, 1708 House, Marram and the Beachcomber Resort. And new this year: Hotel Moraine in Greenport.
“Hotel Moraine is excited to partner with Bedside Reading to offer their curated summer book collection along with their digital library as a luxury amenity for our North Fork clientele,” said owner John Maroney in a statement to press. “This collaboration enriches the guest experience with thoughtful leisure and a wonderful literary escape.”
