When you think about the term “wellness” what probably immediately comes to mind is the individual act of practicing good-for-you habits with the aim of becoming a healthier person, inside and out.

But wellness doesn’t have to be a singular, isolated or individual journey at all. In fact, maybe it shouldn’t be.

At least that’s what holistic health hub Wave Wellness co-founders and life partners Lisa Zaloga and Stephanie Esposito have realized. The two initially met when Zaloga, a long-time yoga teacher from Southampton, sought out Esposito, a renowned massage therapist from Smithtown, for help with chronic pain she sustained from a car accident. Not long after, the pair joined forces, in both business and in life, founding their flagship location on Bay Street in Sag Harbor in 2023.

While the much smaller, three-room Sag Harbor location will continue to focus on, among other things, individual massage, skin care and lymphatic drainage treatments, Wave Wellness’s second Hamptons location — Wave Social Wellness, a 4,000-square-foot facility located on Hill Street in downtown Southampton is open and will host an ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, Feb. 28 — will also offer those services, and many, many more. The drive of the second location: to help alleviate pain while promoting longevity and overall well being through innovative treatments, techniques and technologies. Uniquely, it will be the Hamptons’ first social wellness spot, as it seeks to offer socially driven wellness experiences.

“We’ve been in Sag Harbor for a couple of years now, and it’s really a treatment based facility,” says Zaloga. “We had this idea, pretty much from day one, that we wanted to expand and we wanted to put all of these classes and treatments under one roof.”

At the Southampton location, there are around a dozen practitioners and instructors, and members have full access to state-of-the-art tools and experiences, including functional nutrition, blood analysis and platelet-rich plasma treatments, microneedling for skin tissue and IV therapy.

Classes are slated to occur in the 1,000 square-foot studio space and are expected to range from mat Pilates, yoga and breath work sessions, strength and mobility training, dance workouts and signature Wave Length Recovery stretch classes. The space will also contain a recovery tech suite equipped with compression therapy, red light therapy, motion loungers and a hyperbaric chamber designed for deep and personalized restoration.

“We are first and foremost passionate about our life’s work in helping people heal,” says Esposito. “And if you don’t know what’s going on, where that pain is, we’re gonna figure it out.”

Additionally, the space will offer Sound Wave, a “bespoke weekly sound bath designed for deep relaxation and mental clarity,” according to a press release from the wellness center.

“Longevity is our real goal here,” Zaloga says. “So all of our treatments and all of our classes and everything is geared to keeping you healthy and keeping you doing what you love.”

Services and features will include a custom heated chromotherapy water massage bed, infrared saunas, and a 1,000-square-foot flexible use studio. (Photos courtesy of Wave Wellness)

Shared experiences set to be available at the Southampton location will include communal infrared sauna sessions (offered in stadium-style seating) and social cold plunges, while Zaloga hopes to have weekly mixers for members as the summer season draws nearer.

“The more information you give to the community, the more they will be empowered to make the right decisions for their own health, right? So we want to activate these sort of salon style conversations. We want to hit all the hot topics. What are people talking about?”

There are three tiers of monthly membership available: social, recovery and longevity, costing $295, $395 and $595, respectively. The official grand opening for Wave Social Wellness (15B Hill St., Southampton) is Feb. 28 at 5 p.m. with a mayoral ribbon cutting ceremony followed by a reception. An open house with tours of the space will be on Saturday, Mar. 1 at 4 p.m.. Be sure to check out their Instagram here for class schedules and updates.

“It’s about participating in wellness together,” Zaloga says. “Wellness is better when it’s shared.”
