The requisite gift for a 10 year anniversary is tin or aluminum, meant to symbolize strength. But when it comes to the ephemeral, blushing qualities of rosé wine, something a little lovelier seems more appropriate.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Wölffer Estate Vineyard “Summer in a Bottle,” Joey Wölffer, co-owner and chief brand officer, forged a celebratory collaboration with iconic jewelry designer, John Hardy.
The special seven-piece jewelry was culled from Hardy’s Heishi, Pebble and Colorblock collections, and the pieces fit well with the Sagaponack-based winery’s casual elegant vibe.
John Hardy founded his eponymous, and some might say now-iconic, jewelry company in 1975, after a visit to Bali sparked the vision for his first pieces, influenced by the artisanal adornments and techniques he found there. He was also deeply moved by the beauty and sustainable practices he found there as well. It would take another 20 years to build his production facility, which encompasses buildings created with low-environmental impact and an organic farm.
Hardy’s ethos of creating something beautiful that gives to a place rather than takes from it appealed to Wölffer and her partners, brother Max and winemaker Roman Roth, whose vineyards are certified by Long Island Sustainable Winegrowing.
As a former head jewelry designer, it was an honor when John Hardy approached us for this collaboration,” says Joey Wölffer, co-owner of Wölffer Estate Vineyard. “I couldn’t think of a better jewelry partner rooted in the same values as Wölffer Estate in artisanship, community and sustainability.”
The collection went on sale June 28, and is being sold at Joey Wölffer Sag Harbor (23 Washington St., 631-725-1436).
