Southforker, the new publication from Times Review Media Group focused on creating lifestyle content for the Hamptons and South Fork region, named Emily Toy as lifestyle reporter last week.

Toy has 14 years of reporting experience under her belt, serving locally as assistant editor and reporter for The Independent for four years. The eldest of three girls, Toy grew up in Sag Harbor, graduating from Pierson High School in 2005. Her mother was also a Pierson graduate, and her father has been a resident of Sag Harbor since 1978. After over two decades of working in local restaurants, her interest in all things food and drink-related skyrocketed. “To call me a ‘foodie’ is an understatement,” says Toy, who earned her degree in Journalism from Buffalo State College.

“We are so pleased that Emily Toy has joined our lifestyle team. Our business model is based on producing award-winning local lifestyle content for the Hamptons. Adding Emily gives us a homecourt advantage,” said publisher Andrew Olsen. “Blending Emily’s skills as a journalist with the rest of our team will allow us to move faster as we build southforker audience.”

Launched in November 2022, Hamptons-focused southforker joined Times Review Media’s successful sister publication, northforker, to provide a new voice and fresh lifestyle and community coverage for the South Fork. Mr. Olsen added that Toy’s life-long connection to Sag Harbor and the Hamptons, as both a resident and a reporter, will be part and parcel to southforker’s mission of great storytelling.

“Emily really impressed me with her strong voice, excellent writing and thorough knowledge of the region,” said southforker content director Amy Zavatto. “It’s exciting to add her strengths and energy to our team, especially with the print magazine soon to join our daily digital content. She’s going to be such an amazing asset—I’m thrilled she accepted the position.”
