Who are we, you ask? We’re a brand-new lifestyle publication highlighting the people and places that make up the rich culture of Long Island’s vibrant South Fork, from Westhampton to Montauk, and everywhere in between. If we look and sound familiar, that’s because we’re the southerly sister to the excellent digital and print must-read, northforker. It’s on these pages that we’ll explore and celebrate everything that’s delicious, beautiful, fascinating and fun in the Hamptons through daily stories on our website. Whether you’re a full-time resident, second home dweller or just visiting for the first time, we’ve got you covered on what there is to eat, drink, see, ponder and do.

As the Content Director for southforker, consider me and our excellent, intrepid team of writers and photographers your personal ambassadors to the East End. We want to keep you current and tell you every great story and piece of exciting news that we can because we love it here, and I think you’ll feel that excitement and curiosity on our digital pages every day. We’ll be covering all that’s up-and-coming and new in Hamptons happenings—food, drink, art, shopping, real estate, and more—but we’ll also dive into the rich history, the people, voices, and places that make the South Fork more than simply a storied vacationland.

After all, it’s our home. I grew up on Shelter Island, racing around on my bicycle as a kid and exploring all the nooks and niches of my island home (a big reason why I completely related to the story by reporter Lee Meyer on beer brewing Bonacker, Lindsay Reichart, of Springs Brewery coming to our site soon!). As a teenager, I’ll never forget the day my high-school boyfriend from Water Mill—the son of a multi-generational family of potato farmers—took me out on a snow ski one wintry afternoon. Zipping across their fields, I couldn’t help but marvel at the breadth and beauty of the South Fork’s farmland. Moments like that made me appreciate every season here (not just the summer!), and we’ll help you do that, too, with stories that bring the Hampton’s natural beauty to your plans, your home, and your life. From locavore recipes (check out our Halsey Farm honeynut squash dip right in time for Thanksgiving this week!) to the way the South Fork has inspired generations of artists and community gathering (see our story on The Church in Sag Harbor, coming soon!), to our regular sneak peek inside a Hamptons’ Dream Homes.

Oh, and be sure to check out our weekly podcast, Southforker Stories! Each week, we’ll take one of our favorite features and let you have a listen. First up: an inside look at what happened during some of the most important vintages over Roman Roth’s 30-year career at Wolffer Estate Vineyard.

I could go on and on, but it would be much more fun to just head on over to southforker.com. Tell your friends and family Amy sent you—see you on the South Fork!

All the best,

Amy Zavatto
