FREE Community Jazz Jam Returns January 4th: East End Jazz and SCC Present a Tribute to All-Time Saxophone Greats at the Southampton Cultural Center

East End Jazz, in collaboration with the Southampton Cultural Center (SCC), is proud to announce the return of the “East Meets West Jazz Jam Session” on Sunday, January 4th, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The event will take place at the Southampton Cultural Center, located at 25 Pond Lane, Southampton, NY. This month’s session features a special multi-generational lineup of powerhouse musicians dedicated to celebrating the legacy of the world’s most iconic saxophone players.

 

To kick off the afternoon, a featured band will perform legendary compositions from the greatest all-time saxophone players in history. Experience a live tribute to the sounds of legends like Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Dexter Gordon and Sonny Rollins, performed by: section including Tye Granger, Lo Wood and Ada Rovatti and special guests, all supported by a professional rhythm section. This opening set is designed to inspire both the audience and the participating musicians before the floor opens for the community jam.

The “East Meets West Jazz Jam Session” is open to the entire community and admission is free. This welcoming space extends an open invitation to musicians of all skill levels, vocalists, and jazz enthusiasts alike to step away from the daily grind and embrace the power of live improvisation. Whether you are a professional player looking to network or a family looking to enjoy music, community and togetherness, this event offers a unique opportunity to connect with the local arts scene.

“Our mission is to create a space where the community can forget the world for a few hours and truly be in the moment,” says the East End Jazz team. This successful collaboration with the Southampton Cultural Center is confirmed to continue into the New Year, with monthly sessions scheduled through May.
