Toast local craft beer-makers
“Art of the Brew,” a celebration of Long Island’s craft brew scene is tonight, March 31st, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill. Guests are welcome to tastings from eight local breweries, including Twin Fork Beer Co. (Riverhead), Kidd Squid Brewing Co. (Sag Harbor), and Montauk Brewing Company. Also on hand will be Sagaponack’s Wolffer Estate, offering nonalcoholic wine along with Top Hops, the half pint tap truck serving draft beers from Blue Point Brewing Company (Patchogue). Ticketholders can enjoy entertainment from musicians Mike Gary and Steve Shaughnessy as well as hors d’oeuvres and snacks catered by Elegant Affairs and The Golden Pear. General admission is $75, $55 for Parrish members.
Become a detective at Ram’s Head Inn
Whodunnit?! Come help solve a mystery at Shelter Island’s Ram’s Head Inn, with their latest Murder Mystery Dinner: Hollywood Edition, tomorrow, April 1st. Arrive for a cash bar cocktail hour at 5 p.m., where guests will be observed and possibly made a suspect! The Montauk Library hosts “Then and Now,” in honor of the Montauk Artists’ Association’s 25th anniversary. At 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 2nd, there’s a presentation about the Long Island Railroad Station area where the Association’s Depot Gallery is located. Get fired up with a women’s wellness event
Southampton Arts Center presents “A Wellness Journey to Power: Feminine Fire” special wellness event, rounding out Women’s History Month, tonight, March 31st, at 7:30 p.m.. Hosted by RitmoFit XP, a cross between a dance studio and fitness class, the special wellness event incorporates new methods of interval training along with calisthenics, dance, yoga, martial arts, and air drumming. Founded in Costa Rica, RitmoFit is the brainchild of founders Mila Tina and Vanessa Acero, who’ve made it their mission to inspire, empower and create community for women. Special guest Sydney Spirit, a Himalayan master yogi will guide the audience in a “Shakati Power Pranic Breath Set” and “Dance 2 Freedom,” a holistic dance session. There’ll be healthy snacks, raffles, giveaways and more. Bringing a meditation pillow or small cushion is recommended and guests are encouraged to wear red. Learn about whalers with EHHS
All are welcome to “Sea Shanties & Early Shore Whaling History in East Hampton” at the Amagansett Life Saving Station Museum tonight at 6:30 p.m.. Presented by the East Hampton Historical Society this two-part lecture covers the hamlet’s rich nautical history, with talks led by Nick Epstein and David Cataletto. Hear a classical pianist at SCC
Rising Stars Piano Series is at the Southampton Cultural Center with Jung-Eun Kim tomorrow night, April 1st, at 6 p.m., after her highly praised Hamptons debut last summer. Kim received a double master’s degrees in solo piano and chamber music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she is currently completing an artist diploma in piano performance. Falstaff and Kinky Boots screen at Bay Street
Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor is partnering with The Met to bring their 2022-23 season to the East End. Tomorrow, April 1st, beginning at 12:30 p.m. the theater hosts a live screening of Verdi’s comedic opera of Falstaff by William Shakespeare. Tomorrow night, it’s Kinky Boots, filmed live from London’s Theatre Royal beginning at 8 p.m.. Tickets are $35 for each show. Observe a pond pop-up exhibit at SOFO
Both kids and adults can explore a day in the life of a South Fork Natural History Museum pond on Sunday, April 2nd, at 1 p.m.. Led by SOFO environmental outdoor education specialist Crystal Possehl-Oakes, participants can observe, collect, and identify the components of life in a pond using a variety of magnifiers and microscopes with a curated pop-up exhibit. This event will continue once a month through September, so all are encouraged to come back and see how pond life changes throughout spring and summer. On Sunday at dusk, SOFO hosts a short walk through Poxabogue County Park at 7 p.m. in search of the American Woodcock, a well camouflaged and extremely elusive bird. Hear a local author discuss his latest work
Bestselling author and Sag Harbor resident Tom Clavin is at the John Jermain Memorial Library on Main Street this Sunday, April 2, at 2 p.m.. Clavin’s latest title, Follow Me to Hell: McNelly’s Texas Ranger and the Rise of Frontier Justice, will be available for purchase and inscription in the lower level program room of the library after a reading and discussion. Ever want to learn how to trip the tango fantastic? Now’s your chance! The first ever Montauk Tango Festival offers an all-star line-up of top tango performers daily, as well as beginner tango workshops, live music and lots of opportunity to dance the day and night away.
