Not to jinx it, but the weather so far this month has been the stuff sweet summertime dreams are made of.

Riding that wave of good energy, this weekend’s action proves to be equally pleasant, as tons of Hamptons-based locales gear up to deliver some first rate entertainment and community engagement. Whether you’re looking for a deep dive on the past century of modern living in the Hamptons or if you’re just looking to have a sweet little dessert and socialize a bit, we’ve got a handy dandy little ditty on what to do to keep your weekend on the right track.

Gather at East Hampton Library for an author talk

On Thursday, June 11, the East Hampton Library hosts “Prosperous Bohemians: The Rise and Fall of Weekend Utopia,” a talk with author Alastair Gordon and part of the ongoing Tom Twomey series, starting at 5 p.m. Gordon’s talk will trace the history of the modern movement — both art and architecture — on eastern Long Island as chronicled in his 2001 book, Weekend Utopia: Modern Living in the Hamptons. An updated and expanded edition of the book was just published by Princeton Architectural Press, marking the 25th anniversary of its original publication. Following the talk, Gordon will sign copies of the new book, which BookHampton will have available for purchase.

Show up for a culinary collab

Il Buco al Mare co-hosts a pop-up at Sagaponack Farm Distillery (369 Sagg Road) this Friday, June 12, from 5 to 8 p.m. Join in for a taste of il Buco’s summer catering and in-home cooking program, plus meet the chef who makes it all happen. Cocktails featuring Sagaponack Distillery’s spirits and light bites will be served. 

Party for the pups (and cats) with ARF

The Animal Rescue Fund‘s “Rescues & Rose” returns on Friday, perhaps serving as the ultimate Hamptons party with a purpose. From 6 to 9 p.m., at the stunning new Boathouse venue at East Hampton Point, ARF Hamptons Young Professional Committee hosts this summer soiree while mingling with some of ARF’s most adoptable cats and dogs. Expect good local rosé, beer from Kidd Squid, yummy hors d’oeuvres, and lots of cute cuddles with rescue animals looking for their forever homes. Music will be provided by GR1FN, there’ll be a showcase of J. McLaughlin’s latest summer fashion collection, live portrait painting,  and an online silent auction featuring tons of fancy goodies. Socialize for the sake of strawberries

The Old Whalers’ Church in Sag Harbor hosts its annual Strawberry Social this Saturday, June 13, at their 44 Union Street location. This community event features lots of strawberry shortcake and is a really sweet way to support the Old Whalers’ Church. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for kids.

Get some support from Generation S.O.S.

Generation S.O.S. — a unique nonprofit organization that brings life-saving, peer-to-peer mental health support to teens and young adults at schools and community organizations — will return to the Shinnecock Reservation in Southampton on June 13, with a free, community-wide event, “Bridging Two Worlds.” In addition to students, the program is free of charge and open to the public — particularly young adults, parents, and anyone interested in information and support on the topic of substance misuse. Set for the Shinnecock Community Center (31 Church St., Southampton) the event runs from noon to 2 p.m. Registration is requested. To register click here.

Hear from a local author

Sag Harbor native and author Anna Dunworth will be at The Hub (2183 Montauk Highway) in Bridgehampton for a book signing, reading and Q&A focused on her latest novel “Beyond the Sea.” Set for this Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m., Dunworth will read excerpts from her newest mystery novel, discuss her writing process and field questions from the audience.

Savor the summer at The Parrish

The Parrish Art Museum (279 Montauk Highway, Water Mill, 631-283-2118) hosts “Community Day: Savor the Summer” on Sunday, June 14, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. where attendees can enjoy free admission alongside free activities, including a collaborative installation of “Dennis Oppenheim: Wishing the Mountains Madness 1977 / 2026” in the Meadow. Additionally activities also include a book signing and author talk, weaving workshop, an artisan market featuring local vendors, refreshments and offerings from food trucks and the Parrish Café. Free and all are welcome.

Celebrate Flag Day

Southampton Arts Center (25 Jobs Lane, 631-283-0967) celebrates Flag Day on Sunday, June 14, with a special day of art, history, music and conversation honoring America’s 250th. The program will feature a theater presentation from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. with composer Karen LeFrak, who created the musical composition specifically for “The Story of America 1776-2026: A Celebration of Freedom and Independence,” and Museum of Democracy leaders Pamala Wright and Madison Wright, who will discuss the inspiration and creative process behind the exhibition which features hundreds of unique artifacts. Think the flag flown at George Washington’s inauguration, James Monroe’s red leather fireman’s hat, one-of-a-kind art portrait of Abraham Lincoln made from seeds and saplings, and a toothpaste-stained bathrobe Richard “Tricky Dick” Nixon wore in the White House.

Gosman’s Dock (484 Westlake Drive, Montauk, 631-668-2521) has announced they will host live music at the Blessing of the Fleet on Sunday, June 14. The summer music series kicks off with a live performance by Jetty Koon. From acoustic sets to lively evening performances, the series will create the perfect backdrop for days and nights spent on the dock. Runs from 4 to 7 to p.m.
