Hamptons hotels offer so much more than a place to hang your hat and lay your head. (Photo credit: Doug Young)

If you’ve been following us for a while, you’ve probably noticed that a good chunk of our stories are shot by longtime freelance photographer, resident recipe extraordinaire, and my friend, Doug Young.

Earlier this year, for our Spring Home issue that came out in April, Doug wrote his first feature for us about recently revamped Hamptons hotels that offer weary travelers a true home-away-from-home experience. It made the cover, which was no surprise because Doug’s photo skills are pretty amazing, but the thing that stuck out to me even more so was how beautifully written his story was.

Doug made reading about hotels interesting. A frequent traveler himself, his story was able to capture all the considerations it takes for guests to feel comfortable and at-home, even if they’re thousands of miles away from their actual houses. He also made them all sound so warm, inviting, beautiful, cozy and cool that it got me thinking about booking a staycation just to have the experience. Check out his story (and stunning accompanying photography) here.
