Take part in a turkey trot in Montauk

The 49th annual Turkey “Run for Fun” is in Montauk this Thanksgiving morning. Starting on the west side of the circle (at the chamber of commerce office located at 742 Montauk Highway), rain or shine, the three or six mile run/walk kicks off at 10 a.m. T-shirts will be given to the first 600 participants. $20 plus fees to participate. Trot like a turkey in Hampton Bays

for those that live west of the Shinnecock Canal, take part in the Hampton Bays Fire Department 5K run/1 mile walk today starting at 9:15 a.m. Rain or shine. Click here for details.

Attend an artist opening reception in Quogue

All are welcome to an opening reception for “Quogue Photography Exhibition” is at the Quogue Library (90 Quogue St., 631-643-4224) on Friday, Nov. 28, from 3 to 5 p.m, featuring works by Jennifer Garry, Sara Cedar Miller, Melissa Wanamker, Victoria Sartorius, Veronique Louis and Meghan Goparaju. The exhibit will be on view through Jan. 8.

Hear from a children’s author at CMEE

Angelina Ballerina and Twinkle series author Katharine Holabird will host a live reading of one of her timeless classics at the Children’s Museum of the East End (376 Bridgehampton-Sag Harbor Turnpike, Bridgehampton, 631-537-8250) on tomorrow from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. A local ballerina from Hampton Ballet Theater School will help Holabird bring the story to life and guests are welcome to bring copies of their respective books for the author ot sign. Cost is $5 for members and $25 for non-member children which includes admission to the museum.

Celebrate Christmas, through Truman Capote’s eyes at SAC

Center Stage returns to Southampton Arts Center (25 Jobs Lane, Southampton, 631-283-0967) this weekend with a production of two semi-autobiographical short stories by Truman Capote: A Christmas Memory and One Christmas. Performances of One Christmas and A Christmas Memory will be held on Friday, Nov/ 28 at 7 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 29 at 2 p.m. (before the annual village Christmas parade), and 7 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 30 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person, $20 for members.

Hit up the holiday market on Shelter Island

This Saturday is the Shelter Island History Museum‘s holiday market (located at 16 South Ferry Road, Shelter Island), providing attendees with a unique opportunity to peruse through goodies from some of our favorite food, drink and craft vendors. Enjoy live music from Tom & Lisa, as well as the Open Jam Band with Penny & John Kerr, a hot cocoa bar and tons of other festive fun. Debuting at the market is artist Ingrid McBrian’s exhibit, “Shelter Island in Thread and Paint,” continuing through the month of December.

Get a good laugh at Sticks and Stones

Get a good work out in after the big turkey day at Sticks and Stones Comedy Club (25 Pond Lane, Southampton, 917-855-4828), with headlining comedian Sherrod Small performing at the club’s annual “After The Stuffing” show beginning at 8 p.m. this Saturday night. Sag Harbor native Joe Winchell will also be on hand providing folks with his own comedic musings. Tickets are $40.25 for general admission and special reserved and VIP seats are also available.

See Elf at Southampton Playhouse

Starting on Nov. 29 and continuing all the way until Christmas Eve, it’s “Holidays on Hill Street,” a series of movies with winter season vibes screening at the Southampton Playhouse (43 Hill St., Southampton, 631-339-9069). Kicking off the series, a free community screening of Elf is this Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. A sensory friendly screening of the same movie will happen on Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. Next week, on Dec. 5, it’s The Third Man at 7:15 p.m.

Shop small, shop local in Southampton

The Village of Southampton invites all to celebrate the start of the holiday season with “Shop Local Saturday” on Nov. 29, followed by the Village’s beloved Parade of Lights, tree lighting ceremony and fireworks celebration at dusk, presented by the Christmas Decorations Committee and the Southampton Chamber of Commerce. “Shop Local Saturday” is a festive tradition that encourages everyone to shop and dine local and support the small businesses and restos at the heart of the village.

Get your glow on in Westhampton Beach

Show your support for Small Business Saturday at the second annual “Glow & Gather” at Sydney’s “Taylor” Made (32 Mill Road, Westhampton Beach, from 6 to 9 p.m. this Saturday night. Co-hosted by Dune Concierge and East End Esthestics, guests can enjoy festive cocktails, mocktails and gourmet hors d’oeuvres crafted by Sydney’s while indulging in exclusive self-care package promotions and holiday raffles from local favorites. Support small biz in East Hampton

The Anchor Society invites all to their “Jingle Mingle” party at their two winter pop-up locations in downtown East Hampton, 79 Main St. and 82 Park Place. Held within those two locations are four small businesses settin’ up shop for the winter season, so be sure ot stop by for a nibble, sip, shop and chat. Starts at 4 p.m.
