House proud
Built in 2016, this industrial-chic home with modern barn vibes has the feeling of being very lightly lived in, with meticulous upkeep, quality finishes and custom built-ins. The house was designed by its owner, Mark Zeff, the principal of his eponymous architecture and design firm.
“The architect prided himself on an industrial aesthetic for a long time but now has been leaning toward more of a modern barn ethos,” says Virginia Ehrensberger, who is co-listing the property with Brian Hagadorn at Douglas Elliman.
What’s the plan?
“Each part of the house feels a little different,” says Hagadorn. The first floor comprises 4,431 square feet and includes three ensuite bedrooms, an open-format living and dining room, separated from the kitchen. There is a separate space for dining on the porch, and a library with custom shelves and a full bathroom. The 1,176-square-foot upper level is devoted to a primary bedroom suite with an oversized bathroom, double-sized glazed-tile shower with two rain heads and soaking tub.

What’s cooking?
The chef’s kitchen features dark-blue custom cabinetry topped with water-polished Caesarstone, natural wood open shelving, Viking and Sub-Zero appliances, a beverage cooler, two sinks and space to accommodate a farm table seating 10. A windowed butler’s pantry provides additional prep space and storage.
What else?
Hagadorn says “being an sustainable, energy-efficient home was very important to the owner.” The owner/architect, who built the home, installed solar panels, radiant-heat flooring on the first level, a whole-home filtered water system, a generator and EV charging station. He says the owner is open to selling the home with select furnishings, to be negotiated in a separate transaction.
