Cynthia Rose, an artist and creative, has logged over two decades in the fashion industry. What started with scarves turned to jewelry, and this summer Rose’s special brand of ‘new old stock’ is coming to Westhampton Beach.
All her products are made from vintage designer fabrics. She initially was using material from Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Chanel and Valentino to make creative, one-of-a-kind pieces – but in 2025 ventured down a new path: vegan fashion.
“Since day one my mission has always been one of compassion for the animals, sustainability for the planet and of course passion for fashion, especially, and in that order,” says Rose.
In her vegan collections of her new brand, The Bespoke Vegan, she will sell jackets and accessories, retailing from $250 to $3,500.
“One of my favorite pieces and a staple in my [previous, non-vegan] collection was a hand painted leather motorcycle jacket, so it was a no brainer to make that the first piece by translating it to a vegan,” says Rose.
In designing these jackets, Rose purchases the pieces already made using vegan leather and vegan silk for the interior. She carefully selects the print and color, and an artist who she has worked with for 15 years, paints the exterior.
This summer, the collection will be sold via special trunk shows at Jimmy’s in Westhampton Beach (167 Main St., 631-288-7000) on June 27 and 28, and July 25 and 26.

Rose recently moved to Greenport full-time from Manhattan after spending summers on the North Fork.
She attended New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology for Fashion Illustration and, after graduation, worked under other designers in the industry. She decided she wanted to be her own boss, though, and 25 years ago started her brand, Cynthia Rose, selling scarves and other clothing comprised of creatively pieced together fabrics in about 100 stores in New York City.
One of her sellers was Jimmy’s on East 72nd Street. She stopped in the store to see an old friend and brought along some of her designs. Immediately, the owners invited Rose to sell her unique upcycled items there.
Shortly before many storefronts closed doors due to COVID, Rose segued to jewelry design, launching Cynthia Rose Fine Jewelry online. She practiced the same methods in accessories, creating quirky designs made with vintage items.
Two decades ago, while building her brand, Rose eliminated dairy and gluten from her diet for health reasons. Ten years ago, she decided to become vegan. A big part of what pushed her towards this lifestyle choice was getting her dog, Hudson.
“For me, going vegan was a lot easier as I had been dairy free for 20 years,” says Rose. “My love of animals made the transition that much more seamless.”
Now, she’s looking forward to expanding into the vegan market, with more ideas for additional products and hopes of creating a lifestyle brand.
Rose plans to provide an in-person shopping experience out of Greenport as well – coming soon.
