No matter what kind of music you listen to, it can’t be denied that vinyl has made a big comeback.

According to a 2023 article by Ben Sisario for the New York Times, vinyl records were “left for dead with the advent of CDs in the 1980s,” and are now the “highest-grossing physical format, with fans choosing it for collectibility, sound quality or simply the tactile experience of music in an age of digital ephemerality.”

For Westhampton Beach resident, multimedia artist and DJ Esly Escobar, “vinyl is just superior.”

“I went to school for audio engineering,” Escobar, a Guatemala-born graduate of Hampton Bays High School, says, “and I got to understand that vinyl is the best sound you can get. In every way, shape or form, vinyl is just superior.”

Escobar, who also serves as a technician at LTV Studios, is spearheading the first-ever Hamptons Vinyl Record Fair at the Wainscott locale (located at 74 Industrial Road, 631-537-2777) this Sunday, May 18, from noon to 6 p.m. His brand, The New York Artel, which showcases his myriad artistic endeavors, is a co-presenter for the event.

“Vinyl is the best sound you can get. In every way, shape or form, vinyl is just superior.
