As this last weekend of July approaches, there’s a lot of tasty tunage and pleasing live performances throughout the South Fork. A slew of restos, breweries and venues are readying themselves for a weekend chock full of beloved, star-studded musical acts, providing East End residents and visitors alike with mostly free entertainment beginning tonight and continuing well through Sunday.
So, put on your dancing shoes, dust off your beach chair and get ready for some A-list entertainment. PS — if you haven’t dusted off your beach chair already for some beach sittin’, please get after that this weekend, because next week we’re saying “hello August” and summer will truly be over in the blink of an eye. Learn where Santa vacays
Riverhead’s A Book Place Boutique hosts “Christmas in July Story Time” tomorrow at 4:30 p.m.. “Beach Santa” will be read by author M.B. Paradise, showing listeners exactly what ol’ Kris Kringle does the night AFTER Christmas. Guess what? He hits the beach, just like everybody else! Where to hear free live music
The last round for the season of Almond’s “World Famous” karaoke is tonight at the Bridgehampton mainstay beginning around 9:30 p.m.. (For those who are loyal goers, fear not! Karaoke sessions will return after Labor Day on September 7.) Songstress Lina Maxine performs at Navy Beach in Montauk at 5:30 p.m. this Saturday, July 27. Also on Saturday, Shelter Island’s Sara Mundy plays at Kidd Squid in Sag Harbor beginning at 7 p.m.. At the Clubhouse in Wainscott, it’s Gene Case and The Lonesharks tonight, Woody Boley & Friends tomorrow, July 26, Deep Donkey plays Saturday, and on Sunday, July 28, it’s Winston Irie and his Selective Security Band. All performances start at 6 p.m.. At Gosman’s dock in Montauk, Bill O’Connell plays Latin jazz on Sunday beginning at 6 p.m..
Oh we got trouble, right here in Wainscott
LTV Studios in Wainscott hosts performances of “The Music Man Jr” beginning tomorrow night at 7 p.m. and continuing throughout the weekend. Featuring youth students from South Fork Performing Arts as the cast (that’s where the “Jr” comes in), the show is based on the classic book, music and lyrics from Meredith Willson following the story of master showman (and shyster) Harold Hill. Additional performances are slated for this Saturday at 2 and 7 p.m. as well as Sunday at 2 p.m.. Snag your tickets here.
Take part in the WHB Project
The Westhampton Beach Project, brought to us by the Colucci Musical Mime Theatre, is tomorrow and Saturday on the Great Lawn located at 35 Main St. beginning at 8 p.m. both days. First off tomorrow night, it’s crooner Steven Maglio, slated to perform Big Band Orchestra and Sinatra songs. On Saturday, attendees can enjoy performances by the Jon Lehrer Dance Company as well as the East Coast Contemporary Ballet. Free to attend, but VIP exclusive seating is available for $25 a ticket or, for a $60 donation ticket, includes tent entry at 6 p.m. for cocktails and appetizers. For more info click here.

Enjoy jazz arrangements based on Jackson Pollock’s record collection
Tonight, the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center, in collaboration with The Jazz Loft in Stony Brook, presents “Jackson Pollock and Jazz,” the first of two concerts at the Arts Center at Duck Creek in Springs. Focused on the record collection of Jackson Pollock and his wife Lee Krasner, the concert will feature a quintet comprised of musicians Ray Anderson, Tommy Campbell, Steve Salerno, Sam Dillon and Tom Manuel playing original arrangements inspired by the work of the pair of artists and former residents of the hamlet. Workshop and shop vintage in Bridgehampton
“Upon This Ground: Reflections of Self” is a mixed media workshop with artist and historian Darlene Deloris at the Nathaniel Rogers House (located at 2538 Montauk Highway) this Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m.. Participants will use mixed media elements to connect how we see ourselves with what we know about our past relatives. Co-presented by the Bridgehampton Museum and Ma’s House & BIPOC Art Studio. On Sunday, Hampton Vintage hosts a market at the Corwith House (also part of the Bridgehampton Museum, located at 2368 Montauk Highway) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., featuring over 50 top vendors showcasing vintage fashion, handmade items and one-of-a-kind treasures.
Drop-in for a book discussion at Finley’s Fiction
Christine Coulson, part-time Shelter Island resident and former senior writer for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, just released her latest novel “One Woman Show,” a clever, witty table-turner (and page turner, too) about art, how we interact with it and the way our own personal stories play out. She’ll discuss the book (and maybe give a little insight into what it’s like to work at the Met) with fellow author, Shelter Island resident, television personality and fashion designer Simon Doonan at Finley’s Fiction (8 Grand Ave.) on Shelter Island at 6 p.m. tonight. A book signing will follow. Wine will be served!
Take a comedy ride at Bay Street
Sag Harbor’s Bay Street Theater hosts Mike Birbiglia with his “Please Stop the Ride” four-night show. Starting tonight at 6 p.m., performances from the award-winning comedian, writer, director and actor continue through this weekend, with shows tomorrow at 7 p.m., Saturday at 8:30 with the final show on Sunday at 2 p.m.. Converse about architecture and design at LongHouse
The Long Island Modern series continues at LongHouse Reserve in East Hampton this Sunday afternoon with “Vanishing: The Work and Life of Norman Jaffe, Architect.” Introduced by architect Lee Skonick and moderated by Alastair Gordon, the discussion (set for 3 to 5 p.m.) will feature landscape architect Christopher LaGuardia, designer Keith Boyce and artist Randall Rosenthal, all of whom worked closely with Jaffee during the late ’80s and early ’90s. Preceding the talk at LongHouse, there’s a special opportunity to visit a local, private Jaffee residence — led by Gordon and Skolnick — from 12:30 to 2 p.m. (the address will be provided in advance). Tickets for the talk are $35, $25 for members, while tickets for the talk and house visit are $70, $50 for members.
See film screenings at SAC
“Shrek” screens at Southampton Arts Center tonight at 7:45 p.m. on the outdoor west lawn, weather permitting (in case of inclement weather, film will be held in SAC’s indoor theater). Gates open at 7 p.m. and attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets. Tickets are $10. On Saturday, there’s an opening reception for the new exhibit “Couples Squared” beginning at 6 p.m.. On Sunday, Danny Lee’s “Who Is Stan Smith?” a film exploring tennis legend Smith that was produced by Maverick Carter and Lebron James, screens at 8:15 p.m.. From 2 to 7 p.m. this Saturday, there’s a bar takeover at Sagaponack Farm Distillery by Rhinebeck-based Current Cassis, as they create collaborative cocktails. Chef Camille Becerra will also be on hand for a book signing of her latest all-things cookbook, “Bright Cooking.”
