Summer is in the air. As the East End heads into the last weekend of spring, there’s plenty of activity across several South Fork spots to keep your brain and your body entertained. Run, or walk, in some rad races in Montauk and Shelter Island to benefit local do-gooders across the Hamptons. Dance to the beat of Mambo Loco at Club House in East Hampton or sway to the soulful sounds of The Stylistics at The Suffolk in Riverhead.
There’s also an ample art scene, with artist talks, new exhibits, and opening receptions scattered about this weekend, along with a live art performance at the White Room Gallery in Bridgehampton on Saturday. Brunch and celebrate local architecture with the Southampton Arts Center and check out an arts and crafts fair in Sag Harbor. However you choose to spend it, here’s a glimpse of what’s happening across the South Fork this weekend.

Hear some oldies in Riverhead
The Stylistics perform at The Suffolk in Riverhead on Saturday, June 17, at 8 p.m.. Original members Airrion Love and Herb Murrell are joined by Jason Sharp and Grammy Award-winning former lead vocalist of The Temptations, Barrington “Bo” Henderson. Tickets start at $69 and are available here.
Run for a cause in Montauk
The 2nd Annual Beacon of Hope 5K is this Saturday, June 17, beginning at 9 a.m. in Montauk. This run/walk goes through Camp Hero and finishes at Montauk Point Lighthouse and is an effort to benefit two East End cancer organizations: Lucia’s Angels and the Coalition for Women’s Cancers. Race starts at the lighthouse, located at 2000 Montauk Hwy. in Montauk. Pre-register fee is $35, race day is $40. For more information and to register, click here.
Brunch, tour homes, hear Hungarian songs at SAC
The 6th Annual Architecture + Design Tour is at the Southampton Arts Center tomorrow, June 16. Join SAC for brunch at 11 a.m. then explore the evolution of shingle-style architecture with a tour of three Southampton Village homes. A panel featuring Robert A.M. Stern Architects, Kligerman Architecture & Design, and John David Rose Architects will also be on hand for discussion. Tickets start at $350 and can be purchased here.
On Sunday, June 18, all are welcome to a concert from the Liberto Canto School of Singing, celebrating Hungarian composer Béla Bartók. Ágról Ágra from Branch to Branch is a unique and dynamic a cappella collection of traditional Hungarian folk songs, with the performance featuring Marisa Michelson, Margot Bassett Silver, Deborah Carmichael and Kinga Cserjési. Walk two local galleries
Southampton native and artist Darius Yektai is featured in a solo exhibit, titled “Soliloquy,” at Grenning Gallery on Main Street in Sag Harbor starting tomorrow. An opening reception will be tomorrow night, June 16, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.. The exhibit continues through July 9.
In Bridgehampton’s White Room Gallery, it’s Parisian-born and LA-bred street artist Punk Me Tender’s opening reception for his newest exhibition “Love Me Tender,” which explores graffiti, florals and butterflies. Reception is from 5 to 7 p.m. and will include a live art performance. Exhibit will be up through June 25.
Pick your pace on Shelter Island
The 44th Annual Shelter Island 10K run and 5K run/walk are this Saturday beginning at 5:30 p.m. and 5:50 p.m., respectively. Presented by Northwell Health, this event starts at the Shelter Island School, located at 33 N. Ferry Road and is easily one of the most beautiful race courses on Long Island, beginning in the center of town, winding through Dering Harbor and ending on Fiske Field. Bonus: islanders are known to come out and cheer for the runners (which seriously helps motivate you in those last miles). The 10K is $50 and the 5K cost $40, and all runners get a signature T-shirt. Sign up for both here. At 4 p.m., there’s a free kids fun run on Fiske Field, too.
Party with WHB historical society
The Westhampton Beach Historical Society hosts its season opening summer exhibit, “Our Local Waters Throughout History,” Saturday, June 17, from 4 to 7 p.m.. Held at the Tuthill House Museum, the building’s five rooms will each be dedicated to a different aspects that involves the importance of water in the area, covering the history of SS boats, duck farming, duck hunting and fishing; baymen; and the Coast Guard pre-cursor, the U.S. Life Saving Service, which was initially run by volunteers in Westhampton Beach and Quogue. Curated by collections manager and education coordinator Dot Berdinka, with help from historical society trustees, it’s an important look at the area’s water-rimmed past. Drinks and appetizers will be served; tickets are $50. The Tuthill House Museum is located at 101 Mill Road in Westhampton Beach. Talk with artists at the Parrish
Tomorrow, June 16, local artists Jeremy Dennis, Sam Moyer and Enoc Perez discuss their work and selections in the Parrish Art Museum’s “Artist Choose Parrish, Part I” series. Beginning at 6 p.m. at the Water Mill location, admission is $16 for adults, $5 for members, $12 for seniors, and free for students and children. Register here.
Dance the night away at Club House
Tomorrow night, June 16, there’s a Latin Dance Party at The Club House in East Hampton. Beginning at 9 p.m., music will be from Mambo Loco with the closing set by DJ Chile. Admission is $30 at the door.
Go to an artist reception in Water Mill
The art gallery at the Water Mill Museum hosts a reception for its new exhibit of paintings by Ann Lombardo, “A Brush with Time: Notes & Dust Motes.” The reception (free and open to the public) will be on Saturday, June 17 from 4 to 6 p.m. and the exhibit starts today and continues to July 2. Check out a fair, shop and sip in Sag Harbor
An arts and crafts fair is this Saturday, June 17, and Sunday, June 18, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Marine Park on Bay Street in Sag Harbor.
