Southampton Village will host a community forum and workshop to
discuss the Clean Water Project and the efforts to create a sewer
district in the downtown village business district. Members of Southampton Village Board & Clean Water Project
Committee will present as well as Dr. Chris Gobler The presentation and discussion will touch on why a sewer district is needed,
what the sewage treatment plant would look like, how it will work, and
more to dispel any myths or misconceptions. Community members are
encouraged to come and ask questions and engage in the session.
A sewer district is desperately needed to address the
persistent pollution of Lake Agawam and other Village waterbodies. A
sewer system would strengthen the business district and allow for more
restaurants and additional affordable housing options.
