Sheri’s boat, the “Boss Sea.”

When I was still a landlubber, I’d often find myself looking at boats.  I always thought, ‘Hmm … that looks like fun.’

As I spent more time out east, I started getting invited by friends to join them on their boat.  Trust me, living on the North Fork you will at one point or another jump on a friend’s boat.

After a year or so, I got bitten by the boat bug myself, purchasing my first 26-foot vessel. Within two years, I had a 39-footer and I’m currently eyeing this 55-footer. Yes, I have a problem.

There's nothing quite like being on the open water in the Peconic Bay.

So what is it about boating? When I’m out on the open waters of the East End, I feel like I’m on vacation.  No matter what I have going on in my business, when I’m out there on the bay, I’m in Heaven.

This Friday through Sunday, the Long Island Boat Show is being held at the Nassau Coliseum. And while that’s a good distance from the North Fork, it’s a perfect stopping off point for anyone on their way out here.

That’s my pick this week. See you next time, when I discuss …. well, you’ll have to wait and see.
